Rachel George, M.D.
Regional Medical Director
Dr. George joined Cogent in 2006 and oversees the western and central regions of the country. Previously she worked at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center, where she was the medical director of hospitalist services. In that role she successfully expanded the hospitalist program from one physician to nine, with round-the-clock coverage. She is also an associate clinical professor at UIC College of Medicine. After practicing medicine for several years, Dr. George returned to school to earn her MBA in healthcare administration from the University of Tennessee. She is a member of the American Medical Association and SHM, where she has served on the leadership committee and facilitated the leadership conference. Dr. George is also chair of SHM’s Women in Hospital Medicine Task Force.
